SchoolCare ("we", "us", "our") is a school management platform operated by Webskul Digital Innovations Private Limited, a company registered under the Companies Act, 2013 (CIN: U63999UP2023PTC180214), with its registered office at Badbhuili, Adalhat Chunar, Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, India — 231302.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our website (schoolcare.app), mobile applications (Android & iOS), and related services.

By using SchoolCare, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

When you register a school or use our platform, we collect:

• School Information: School name, address, board affiliation, contact details, logo
• Administrator Information: Name, email address, phone number, password
• Staff Information: Name, email, phone, qualifications, employment details, photo
• Student Information: Name, date of birth, gender, class, section, admission number, photo
• Guardian Information: Name, relation, phone number, email, address, occupation
• Identity Documents: Aadhaar number, birth certificate, transfer certificate, and other documents uploaded by school staff for admission records
• Academic Data: Attendance records, exam marks, grades, report cards, timetables
• Financial Data: Fee structures, payment records, invoices, receipts
• Communication Data: Messages, notices, notifications sent through the platform

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Device Information: Device type, operating system, app version, unique device identifiers
• Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, time spent, actions taken
• Log Data: IP address, browser type, access times, referring URLs
• Location Data: Approximate location based on IP address (we do not collect precise GPS location)

2.3 Information from Third Parties

We may receive information from payment processors (Razorpay, UPI providers) to confirm payment status. We do not store complete credit card or bank account numbers.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the SchoolCare platform
• Create and manage school accounts, user profiles, and access permissions
• Process attendance, examinations, fee collection, and other school operations
• Send notifications (push, email, SMS, WhatsApp) about school activities as configured by the school
• Generate reports and analytics for school administrators
• Process payments and issue invoices
• Provide customer support and respond to inquiries
• Ensure security, prevent fraud, and enforce our terms
• Comply with legal obligations under Indian law

4. Data Isolation & Multi-Tenancy

Each school on SchoolCare has its own isolated database. This means:

• School A cannot access School B's data — ever
• Student, staff, and academic data is completely separated per school
• Each school's data is stored independently and can be exported or deleted independently
• School administrators control who has access to their school's data through role-based permissions

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

• Payment Processors: Razorpay, UPI providers — to process school subscription payments
• Communication Providers: SMS gateways, WhatsApp Business API, email services — to deliver notifications as configured by the school
• Cloud Infrastructure: Hosting providers — to store and serve data (data remains in secure servers)
• Legal Authorities: When required by Indian law, court order, or government regulation

We do not share individual student or staff data with advertisers, data brokers, or any unrelated third parties.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures:

• HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data in transit
• Encrypted passwords (bcrypt hashing — passwords are never stored in plain text)
• Token-based authentication with automatic expiry (24 hours)
• Rate limiting on authentication endpoints to prevent brute-force attacks
• Role-based access control (school admin, teacher, student, parent — each sees only what they need)
• Regular automated backups
• Isolated databases per school (no cross-school data leakage)

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your school account is active. When a school cancels its subscription:

• Data is retained for 90 days after cancellation (in case you wish to reactivate)
• After 90 days, all school data (including student records, attendance, fees, etc.) is permanently deleted
• Schools can request immediate data deletion at any time — see our Data Deletion page
• Schools can export all their data before deletion

8. Children's Privacy

SchoolCare is used by schools to manage student data, which may include children under 18. We take this responsibility seriously:

• Student data is entered and managed by authorized school staff — not by children themselves
• We do not collect data directly from children under 13
• Student accounts (if any) are created by school administrators under parental/guardian consent
• We do not use student data for advertising or marketing purposes
• Parents/guardians can request access to or deletion of their child's data through the school

9. Your Rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India), you have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data (see Data Deletion)
• Portability: Request export of your data in a standard format
• Withdraw Consent: Opt out of optional communications (WhatsApp, SMS notifications)

10. Cookies & Local Storage

Our website uses essential cookies for session management and CSRF protection. Our mobile app uses secure local storage to save your authentication token. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
